The Chicken or the Egg?

I currently have the "Merchant's Row" structure on my layout and the other day I was cruising the web looking for structures when I ran accross the "Burlington Street" structure by SS Limited. The only difference I can tell between the two structures is that the Burlington Street has a column on the left corner building. I wonder which came first, and who copied who?

  1. I think this happened when Magnuson's designs were sold to Walther's to make injection molded plastic versions of some of his kits. Apparently the original resin molds used to make the Magnuson kits (along with a few of his other kits) eventually found their way into the SS limited line. The whole "Victoria Falls" series was Magnuson before it was SS Ltd. for instance. That's the quirk of single-proprietorship when it comes to MRR kits, they change hands much more often than you might imagine. Another good example is Walther's Adam's Ribs. Heljan Kit that Con-Cor imported and rebranded and now is offered by both them and Walthers.
